 Baobab is an ancient tree which can live for over 1000 years. It thrives in some of the harshest environments on earth. The fruit from the tree is hand harvested and dried by the Malian women in the villages outside of Bamako. Baobab fruit is known as a super food and has been used for thousands of years by the native people of Africa in food and traditional medicine. The Tree is known as the tree of life and the fruit has been providing medicinal and nutritional value to the native people who have been consuming it. The Baobab Drink that has been made from this fruit and is a family recipe of Chef Mouna. It has been handed down to her from her grandmother and has been in the family for generations.
